Scafolding with Technology

Hi Colleagues, We are about midway in this ICT course and much has been asked of us in terms of understanding the programme and using our new learning and teaching tools effectively. That is great, our ICT personnel know what they are about. My main concern though is with reinfocement and scaffolding of this information. This was backed up by the fact that Mrs. Jackson demonstrated how to find someone from the blog address. This told me that some have not begun to blog.

I would have liked this course to be more extended for various reasons.
1. Ground breaking
2. Beneficial to school community
3. Beneficial to global community
4. Self actualization as Reading Specialists.

Suggestions for next course:
1. More time for scaffolding
2.More time to reinforce.

Can you see my F?

  1. Well Roslyn I must agree with you that some level of scaffolding was necessary but because of time constraints it could not be done to any great extent. I do believe that a course which includes new knowledge and vital information re classroom practice must, in future, never be rushed. Look at the fact that we did not complete pod-casting which was one of the technologies initially planned.

It demonstrates the need for more allotted practical time than discussion periods. I am not saying that the plenary was not useful but I believe in a case like this teachers needed more time using the technology as it would have helped to ground the concepts thought.

In closing I do not see your "F". I have witnessed your enthusiasm and desire to learn. I am sure you will meet with success especially where it really counts which is in the classroom.
